Even though the pitching is fine, it still may ultimately come down

to his/her position with the previous employer, how many current staff he/she wants to bring with him/her, and possibly differences in tactics/techniques. For example let's assume Tincher is teaching the pitchers to rely more on the rise ball in certain situations. However, the next HC wants to see pitchers rely more on the drop pitch in those situations. If she is not willing to conform to the wishes of the next HC for whatever reason, then it isn't unreasonable to assume the next HC will probably decide to not retain her even though she may be popular among the fans and important figure to the program.

As far as the hitting coach goes, it is kinda surreal to see someone from my part of the Valley on the VT staff. I did get a chuckle seeing Dayton (a very small town close to my hometown). The HS he went to was a rival of mine, but it had a very good softball program (not sure the current state since I don't live there anymore and my mother has retired from the middle school that feeds into it). If the hitting isn't improving, then he should be fired or at least relieved of those duties (if he is a good/great recruiter).
