I was a classmate of Bill Webb also
I knew Bill and his wife quite well. She was living and teaching in Colonial Heights when he lost his life. Bill and I went to RVN on the same day and bunked together at Camp Alpha before heading out to our field assignments. He was killed in a close in ambush thirty days later. His class ring and other valuables were looted from his body and never recovered.
Bill and his wife are buried together in Darvills, VA just a mile or so from the church where they were married. Another classmate and I visited their gravesite last year in tribute to their sacrifices. Bill was from Abingdon and has no living relatives that I know of.
As a member of the VTCC Museum Task Force, I would suggest that you donate these medals to the Corps Museum since they are identified as his.
If you would like to make a donation of memorabilia items to the museum, please contact Museum Curator Samantha Riggin at 540-231-8807 or [email protected].
Thanks very much for your perseverance in tracking these items down......it means a lot to Va Tech and the VTCC.
