Coolness! I had a WD external drive fail and WD replaced it at no cost...

Thanksgiving sale 2016 I picked up a 1TB Passport Ultra drive at Wal*Mart on the cheap ($69 - not a bad price then) and it gave out late Tuesday night. I did a RMA on Western Digital's web site and got a new 3TB Passport Ultra drive sent to me...at no extra cost to me. I sent the old WD drive back to them Wednesday.

I've normally had very good luck with WD over the years and the few times I've had to RMA something the procedure has been flawless. I can also say the same for Seagate, Crucial and OCZ.
