Interesting info, and probably accurate. He writes off the contributions
on his taxes, saves probably 44%+ in taxes (39% federal and estimated 5%+ on state taxes depending on his actual state or residence. So, it does not cost him nearly as much as you might think. Plus, as you state, the “marketing” aspect contributes to ongoing and potential future endorsement contracts. It’s definitely a win situation for him at not much net cost in relation to current and potential future benefits.
