Coach Thomas shared a neat story this morning on Facebook about one of our volunteer assistants that completely embodies the spirit of Ut Prosim. Since it's on Facebook, hopefully he won't mind me sharing it on TSL as I think you folks will appreciate it.

Tyler Dawson is a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the softball team, He's a former baseball/football player at Bridgewater and was formerly an intern with our strength and conditioning program. Coach Thomas gave him an opportunity to be a volunteer assistant this season and it sounds like that was a great decision. Coach Thomas writes that Tyler's "passion, excitement and willingness to learn is second to none and we are fortunate to have him represent our program and Virginia Tech."

Unfortunately, Tyler lost an important figure in his life this week - his grandmother. Consequently, Scot told him to take care of himself and family and "we would see him when we got back from the trip to Alabama." In Scot's words, 'he listened to most of that advice, except for the "when we get back" part." After his grandmother's funeral, Tyler rented a car and drove 12 hours from Amherst to Gulf Shores, Alabama" to be with the team for today's season opener!!

Scot sums it up nicely: "Keep in mind that Tyler is a volunteer and has a second job to fulfill obligations with us"...Love him and his dedication to his dreams and our program. Ultimate example of UT PROSIM (That I May Serve)...what a great example to all of us!! Go Hokies!!"
