If I had been coach Brooks, I probably would have gotten a technical foul, not so much on that call, but because of the culmination of calls (or in some cases, no calls) all day long. Miami was one of the most physical teams I have ever seen and seldom was called. One of their players went down the lane (without the ball) and just ran over Kendyl Brooks and knocked her backwards to the floor. When she got up she was wiping her mouth, I expected blood or to see her holding her teeth in her hand. No call.

Had I been the coach today, it would have been one of those days where I would have been tempted to tell the refs that if they continued to allow that kind of rough play I was going to take my team to the locker room to protect my players. I would not let them get hurt when it appeared that they (refs) were going to decide the game anyway. I'm sure if a coach ever did that they would get blasted by all opposing fans and the media, and the league office would reprimand the coach, but it may send a message and get some ones attention. This is supposed to be a game played for fun, but I doubt it was much fun playing against thug basketball. Had some of that activity occurred outside on the street it would have gotten you 5 to 10 in the pen. I have seen more competent officiating at rec games, and I have watched or played in pickup games where participants called their own fouls over a lot less contact.

If anyone knows the email address of the ACC supervisor or officials please post it here, and hopefully our people will respond. There is a lot of money invested by VT on the WBB program to have games officiated and decided like this. I hope someone from the athletic department files a complaint with the league office.
