They have a "return to home" function thankfully.

It updates where it's "home" is every time it takes off so it knows where to return. You just have to ensure you're in an open field so it doesn't try to land in the tree canopy. You can download 3d party apps to program them to go miles away and come back just gotta be careful with the battery life.

Sidenote: I have a P3 as well that I've had and loved for years. Last time out it popped up "strong radio interference" and boom, both starboard side props turned off. Thankfully it flew into a neighbors palm frond and fell to the ground beneath instead of in the river, where I was flying it over. I was able to rescue it and after I replaced the broken props a few of the gimbal shocks and popped the plastic cover back in place, she's as good as new. First crash in 4 years!
