I have a Penn Fathom 30 star drag


It's a conventional. I have 50# test braid on it, and use it for bottom fishing offshore for snapper, and grouper. I've caught cobia, sharks, bull redfish, and stingrays on it. I have it paired with a Penn Carnage II heavy rod, so it's a pretty stout set up when you're trying to haul grouper out of their holes.
The 30 refers to the max drag on the reel.
