Law enforcement makes significant use of cell phone location data in


fighting crime. Apparently the first thing most criminals do after committing their crime, is jump on their cell phone to connect with their posse to let them know the heist is complete. The police capture a record of all cell phone activity in the related area, then just start figuring out which ones have records, don't seem to be from the general area, etc.
