How rural? I've got about 1 acre, but figure .75 is mowed

because I have a rider that's in pretty decent shape, I'll keep doing it myself, but I've been surprised at the cost to potentially pay a lawn service to do it.

If I figure the tractor needs a full replace every 7 years or so (it should last longer, 10 probably, but repairs add in and I lowered to 7 to account for that), then doing it myself only saves me $150 a year or so. When you take into account my time spent on the tractor, and/or DOING whatever repairs, I'm SERIOUSLY considering hiring the lawn service.
