I was listening to a local independent radio station yesterday morning

and the DJ played a song by The Cure, followed by 808 State, and then Nine Inch Nails....and then came on his mike break and explained that the 3 songs were in honor of Ikutaro Kakeshashi.

The Cure used Roland drum machines and synths extensively.

808 State was named after a Roland Product

Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails also obviously used a lot of synth, including many Roland products.
