I'm not following why we should think of it as a charity


If you're assertion is that giving to the athletic fund is good for the students, I understand the position, however I fully disagree with it. Giving to the university directly will always have a greater impact on the goodwill of the VT student population. That is why I donate to VT but not athletics.
