Two different ways...
For Chelsea, the match was sold out. I had to go through a ticket broker, called Football Ticket Net. I requested 3 tickets and they were all in the home supporters end, behind the goal. The instructions were very specific: do not wear opposing colors, do not cheer for the away team, if anyone asks just say that a friend gave you the tickets. I didn't have a horse in this race, so I didn't really care. I just wanted to attend a match and this was the closest stadium to my hotel. The unfortunate thing is that my 3 tickets were not together. I ended up sitting by myself while my wife and daughter sat in the other 2 seats (same section, but 7 rows higher). I guess I should've been more specific on my ticket request. I didn't get to pick anything, just picked a price point and requested a location. Paid the price, but didn't get the location or 3 seats together. It worked out well enough.
For Hull City, I bought my ticket direct from the team website and was able to get a front row seat very close to mid-field. Similar instructions, these are home tickets, don't be stupid. I was proudly wearing my Hull City home kit, so I fit right in.
All things considered, I didn't have any issues at either location. The Chelsea fans were loud and chanting the entire match. And they stood the entire match despite "Persistent Standing Is Not Allowed" signs everywhere...it was great! Hull City was a little less raucous. But they're also bottom of the table and the fans hate the owners, so the weak atmosphere is to be expected.
