Eh, more like the legal problems & bad PR.

The little guy has almost no shot in a casino, and that industry has done just fine the last ~ 20 years.

Getting the boot from big states (such as New York) was a massive speed-bump, and I don't think DK/FD ever quite recovered their momentum (even when many of those states eventually cleared them to operate).

Plus, even in the good times, they were spending a ship-load on marketing & promotion. Were they ever profitable?
