If you're going to try to negotiate something higher...


...then be certain to ask for more than what you're truly willing to settle for; that way you have wiggle room for them to counter down to your actual number. So for example, if you want $10K more than they're currently offering, ask for $12-15K more.

Now with all that said, I'm assuming you have the experience / references / resume / etc. to back-up your request for the higher salary.
