At 5 years old, to be honest, I'd just get a new system.


You'll spend hours working on this one. A new computer could run you anywhere from $400-$800 and I assume you're not a power user. Instead of spending hours trying to fix the problem, you'll know that you have a new computer that isn't compromised. Get an external hard drive or flash drive and transfer your media files(pictures and music) but do not copy anything else from your hard drive, just to be safe.
