Anyone hang a bat house?

I'd like to put one on my chimney, but they would drop all over the roofing shingles.

I'd rather attach to the house than run it up a pole.

Any way to "manage" the bat poop to keep it relatively clean with a chimney install? Seems like it would be way too high maintenance to keep them from bombing the shingles.
