There was that one and a different one


The one in the 70s dealt with state laws exclusively. There was one in 1995 that dealt with Federal law. It was a very interesting case because it shows the differences if opinion on what government actually is. The court voted 5-4 saying that Congress and states themselves do not have the power to set term limits. The dissenters were Scalia, Thomas, O'Connor and Rehnquist, and the key arguments were the nature of federalism itself.
