I feel like if this happened...

It would set in motion the death of the "conference" as we know it because at that point, the Big Ten and the ACC would talk about combining resources and I feel like at some point, all 5 conference would wind up merging to form a league where all revenue is split equally. Perhaps that's me daydreaming here at work but honestly, that might be the best thing for the longevity of FBS football.

At that point, you could then get rid of "conferences" and go to more "regional" set ups with VT playing in the east region with games against teams like Penn State, South Carolina, etc that we don't get to play now. So, on one hand that would be cool. But there are major issues with it as well.

Though, this feels more like complete and utter desperation and I highly doubt that Texas would join the SEC and be forced to get rid of their own network. Which is why I think after the dust settles we may see Texas go independent.
