I don't disagree that the ACC would benefit from an Alabama/LSU like
matchup. I guess from the ACC's perspective (and maybe even Clemson) couldn't Clemson be paired with anyone (assuming that program can be a consistent Top 10 or Top 15 program?
Given the short history of the Clemson-FSU rivalry, I guess I am not completely sold on Clemson MUST be in the same division as FSU in order to achieve it. Right now FSU has returned to form and Clemson has been able to capture the magic (minus a national championship) it had under Danny Ford. However, will both programs be able to sustain the same level of success as Alabama and LSU? If not, then what happens to the "rivalry" if 1 or even both programs experience a slump?
I would think that as long as Clemson was paired with a football first state school (i.e. Louisville or VT), then the ACC could still have its own version of Alabama/LSU. Plus have 2 Top 5 or Top 10 teams to square of in the ACC CCG. Given that Clemson-FSU is a high rating game during the regular season, then I would think Clemson vs. FSU in the ACC CCG would be even higher (maybe even "must see TV" quality).
