Roku, AppleTV, Slingbox, etc. replace the Xfinity Box and still use the TV.
Then with something like a Roku that I'm most familiar with SlingTV and Sony Playstation Vue offer up to 100 channels in the case of Playstation Vue just like Comcast does.
The SEC Network and BTN are part of the bundles for Playstation Vue just like they are for Xfinity. There are also direct subscriptions outside of the bundle for MLB, NFL, or NBA. With those you can get the games. There is also Netflix and HBO for movies and shows as well as Hulu for TV shows. You don't have to use a computer. Just get WiFi internet and hook up a Roku to the television. Comcast bill reduces to Internet only. Return the cable boxes to Comcast.
Also available on the Roku is WatchESPN. What we may be seeing is an ESPN streaming channel that looks like Netflix. You pay $14.99 per month and get ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACCN, and SECN. A Channel still would need to be developed, but it could easily be distributed this way. No need to negotiate anything with Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, DirectTV, or Dish. They are taxi cabs. The Streaming Devices are Uber.
