If Texas and Oklahoma join the B1G, the TV product would be gargantuan. A revenue gap would develop that might be wide enough to force countermeasures by the SEC and ESPN. That makes the ACC vulnerable to some extent. SEC would need the TV markets in Virginia and NC, and the FB product of Clemson and FSU. The NC/VA bloc could resist by threatening to join the B1G if the SEC causes the conference to fracture.
The B1G is one realignment deal away from dominance. But the shoe is on the other foot if the SEC grabs TX/OK first. Now the B1G needs some of the ACC schools (NC/VA). To avoid a total imbalance among the conferences, Texas must join the PAC 12. But that is the least likely of their many options.
