No Maryland's problems aren't attributed to Yow.

Most of Maryland's problems are attributed to the rise of the Washington Nationals and DC United. Maryland is like 7th fiddle in its home town as far as sports entertainment interest and funding. I got the debt numbers from her bio on Wiki. She did a lot with what she had to work with. The expansion of luxury boxes at Byrd Stadium was perhaps a mistake because of my first point. Sports Entertainment dollars in the Baltimore DC area are not spent on Maryland. Maryland fans like to blame her, but I'd rather have her than Kevin Anderson any day.

I'm impressed with how Debbie Yow is doing at NC State. She has the athletic department there on the cusp of perennial top 25 Director's cup finishes. NC State used to finish way back. The next step is tough though, and they may not have enough sports programs to get there. With only 21 sports programs it is tough in a contest of your best 20. There is little margin for error. If she can get the revenue engine going from NC State boosters, maybe she can look to get NC State back into lacrosse. The ACC is a perfect conference to do so, and she's experienced with lacrosse from days at Maryland. NC State's finishes in the top 40 are still good. Her goal is top 25.
