When it first snapped I had lunged back as far as I could jump. Then I

Scooted back even further so I knew I was safe. The gator sunk in the water about 5' off the shoreline but I could still see its' eyes looking at me. That's when I took my shirt off to dangle it while squaring down. The shirt lured the gator to the shoreline. Then it slowly crawled 3/4 of the way out of the water, that's when I stood up to move further back and when I stood up, it sank back into the water.

While I'm guessing the gator was 5-7 feet I knew I was heavier than the gator. Even if it had originally bitten my arm I don't think it was heavy enough to drag me into the water. I can't say for sure but I think I would have pulled this sized gator out of the water. The water wasn't a deep drop off. You could walk out 6' from shore and only be in 4' of water. I don't know what his bite would have done. Maybe broke my arm or ripped it off but I would say the gator only weighed 155. I'm a lot bigger then that. I often kid that while I would never want to break or lose my arm I wouldn't mind having a small crocodile Dundee type gator bite scar on it. Lol

Anyway as a result of that day I tell everyone to be cautious around water in Florida if they have kids or pets. They can come out of no where.
