Regarding small ball...


I agree that moving runners is a critical component to the game, but quite frankly ST probably doesn't think 1 run will beat the #5 hitting team in the country. The objective is to beat Notre Dame, and gambling for a big inning wasn't the worst strategy. If Nolan would have hit a double and traded places with her everyone would be okay with it.

ST has bunted and used the hit and run, and fake bunt steal at various times in the past depending on his roster. You have to coach based on what you have, and if you don't have balanced hitting throughout the lineup, sometimes you take a chance for a big inning at the top of the order.

Not disagreeing with some of the comments, just offering another perspective. Go Hokies.
