Re: Unofficial Take on Question

Yes, registered 501c3 non-profit with mission to 'Foster National or International Amateur Sports Competition'.

My understanding is donation is deductible up to 50% of adjusted gross income.

Attended reception with Coach Dresser last night who made a couple of important points about SERTC donations:
(1) SERTC donations are critical to support salaries of volunteer coaches (e.g. Zadick last season) and athletes in residence (Devin Carter) as NCAA does not allow more than 2 paid assistants (Robie and Hoffman last season).
(2) It costs $50-60k to secure a stud RTC wrestler in the room for one year. Up to $2k to bring in a stud for the weekend to work out our guys. The perennial big boys have 5-6 annually (you can do the math) and it is a major competitive advantage for recruiting along with practice partners for team.
(3) Ty and Epp (outstanding well-spoken young men) were at reception and they confirmed that Zadick made a HUGE impact on success of team this year which would not have been possible without SERTC.

Hokie Club donations designated for wrestling help too but there are limitations on how the funds can be used (i.e. none can be for volunteer coach salaries)

Not that I needed much convincing, but meeting coach and some of the support staff and athletes for the first time last night left no doubt that there is an incredibly strong culture of accountability, commitment and success ingrained into our program. However, coach left no doubt that support through SERTC is vital to compete for trophies and championships on a routine basis.
