Well it is kinda ridiculous the NHL decided it needed

it needed to change the Playoff format. Since the top 2 teams in points are from the Metropolitan Division for the Eastern Conference and the top 3 teams in points are from the Central Division for the Western Conference, then you could make the case that both "conference finals" are being played in the semi-final round or divisional finals.
