Cave Spring senior Cody Amos, who capped his second straight undefeated season by repeating as VHSL Group 3A champion at 220 pounds, said he has narrowed his choice for college to Virginia Tech or Old Dominion.

Amos likely will make a decision following an upcoming official visit to ODU’s campus in Norfolk.

“I definitely like both programs and the direction they’re going in,” he said. “I feel like I can contribute to either school.”

Amos said he likely will move to the heavyweight division in college. The next weight class below 285 pounds in the NCAA is 197.

“There’s not really any in-between,” he said. “I have a tall frame. I would be hard to stay down [at 197] all five years.”
