Well, I've seen the replays now

Disappointing results, but we were already in a deep hole before I left for Chapel Hill.

Everything pretty much went to seed in the championships, and it was the wrestlebacks where it all fell apart. We handled the NCSU guys easily at 133 and 149 in the duals, but not today. 149 was a 7-point swing (2.5 each way for the 4th place and advancement points, plus another 2 for the fall). And that doesn't even count another 2 for 3rd if Sal wrestled to seed. At least the UVA guy held Donohue to 4th. 133 was another 4 (2 each for the 3rd place), and that doesn't count the Duke scratch costing Gus an advancement point (due to the loss to Forys) plus possible bonus in the 3/6 match. At least Morris lost out on bonus in the consolations. Those 11 points makes a big difference when you lose by 9.5.

Kudos to Joey -- hope he does some real damage in NYC. I was worried about ZZ after Renda had two big wins after the dual, but he got the job done.

Chishko had a tough time with Jack for the second time around -- that guy is so long.

Nick went hard, but I doubt he's anywhere near 100% and Gantt looked really good -- both in our earlier dual and tonight.

Epperly was right there -- too bad he couldn't finish the great shots he had. Ramos is a really tough opponent.

I'm really glad to see Hartmann hanging up the t-shirt. I guess after the dual, we decided not to have Jared go under, but we didn't get too much offense going to make up for it. Still, went hard and made it interesting near the end.

Great job by Ty. In an interview after the dual, Coach Pop said that despite the close result Ty never threatened Gwiaz. He wasn't wrong about that. But Ty definitely threatened him tonight.

Dishonorable mentions:

- That spotlight in the finals was idiotic.

- Mr. Play-by-Play Guy, the word you're looking for is "EScape" not "EXscape".

- ESPN's video player for the PC got lost every time I tried to fast forward Mat 1 coverage to the finals. Tried for 10-15 minutes to get the finals cued up, and finally had to watch it on my tablet.

- I really don't enjoy watching Roshkopf. Dude doesn't seem to initiate any offense at all. That 1-0 championship match with Staudenmayer was wack.
