Was the killing of the 2 officers in the summer of '76 or another incident?
I was a rising junior at VT and spending the summer in Yokosuka, Japan that summer. My dad was Chief of Staff for Commander, 7th Fleet. The flagship for Com 7th Flt was the USN Cruiser Oklahoma City. It was in drydock when the attack occurred and mostly covered in orange primer paint.
The response was swift...In under 24 hours the ship was painted battleship gray from stem to stern and was under a full head of steam bound for the Korean peninsula.
