given the NIT's current rules for selecting teams and there is only a handful of mid-major conferences that have a real good shot (maybe even a lock in the case of the Big East) of seeing their regular season champion earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. I was looking at more in terms of a measuring stick to see just how far the program has come under Buzz and the possibility of the program using that growth as motivation during the offseason. For the players returning next season, Buzz could use this "snub" as a lesson to remind them of all the games (i.e. Alabama A&M, Syracuse, etc.) they let slip through their fingers and the importance of finishing the game strong.
