Michigan's Interim AD made some interesting comments recently.
He made it sound like the Big Ten isn't going to put their Tier 1 Contract out to bid like before. It sounds like they are going to have the BTN be the broker of the content to all of the networks. It sounds like the BTN is going to control everything and then broker out individual football and basketball games to ESPN, Fox, NBC, and CBS. To me that's Raycom on steroids. I found the comment interesting, but I haven't seen more about it yet.
Excerpt: “Starting in 2017, all the television broadcasts of a Michigan game at home or any time we play a Big Ten team are sold by the Big Ten Network. Now, the Big Ten network doesn’t televise all of them. ESPN will televise, Fox will televise, but in 2017 this contract starts to deliver our content. For example, in 2017 we play Florida in Texas at Jerry Jones Stadium down there, (and) we wouldn’t be able to see that in the future under this agreement. We could still go down there probably if we worked something out. In ’17 you could have NBC a player in both of our camps but we don’t know because the contracts aren’t settled.”
How does this affect the ACC Network? Don't know. We are going down the path with ESPN like the SEC is.
