Looks like the B1G and SEC are trying to go ahead and get it over with. By

allowing the B12 to have a champ game with 10 it will reveal if the conference has any will to join the rest of the conferences in a format that provides parity between them. By allowing the ACC proposal they would have just prolonged the uncertainty of the future of the Big12. By forcing the Big12 to expand in order to have a champ game the Big12 could have grabbed a couple schools and moved forward for the next 15-20 years without fixing the real issue of Texas holding everyone hostage. Their move also keeps the ACC from putting together 5 team divisions allowing ND to compete as a conference member. That would only be an incremental step and not what they are looking for. Seems to me that they are tired of the patty cake and want to go ahead and see the punches thrown.

I don't see how the Big12 can survive in it's current state. Boren has been clear about his vision of the future of OU athletics and a 10 team conference without a network is not it. This may look like a win for the Big12 and I guess it is for the next few years but it also forces them to go ahead and settle it once and for all. I expect OU to make it clear they are out as soon as possible whether that is after the GOR or sooner. Once that is clear the other members will look to capitalize on the value OU (and KU and whomever else is leaving) has by working out a buyout prior to the GOR expiring. Because, if they simply wait and let it all end in 2025 they get zero when OU walks away.
