Here’s the problem with that approach.


Scholarships and other benefits become taxable.

So the marginal athlete who doesn’t make as much as the stars owes a lot of money for schollie and benefits. They also become eligible for retirement benefits offered to other employees.

That’s why the schools are fighting hard about the employee categorie.
