The RX-8 was better than the earlier RX-7s, but fuel economy still sucked

I remember seeing the literature on the early RX-7 saying it would burn crappy fuel...guess that was how they justified their crappy fuel mileage.

Their engines (13B) also only lasted about 100K miles before it needed rebuilding. The RX-8 engine seemed to have more longevity, but even that one never lasted as long as piston engines. I have seen people who know how to rebuild them to last, but you still get crappy fuel mileage.

What rotary engines really have is smoothness, and high revving nature. They are also very light and small. They produce great power for size.
