Since I live in NOVA, I'm unable to attend VT softball games. However, I have watched several games on TV and I noticed seeing young people attending the games. So I thought how cool would it be if a young person had an autograph ball from their favorite player. Hopefully, that small gesture would create a fan for life (if they weren't already one).

If for some reason that wasn't possible, then receiving autograph ball might influence that young person to become a fan of said player. At least that is how I became a Carl Yastrzemski fan, even though I was never a Red Sox fan, because someone decided to give me 1 of his Topps baseball cards in a protective case as a birthday or Christmas gift (I forget which) because the person knew how much I loved collecting baseball cards. He is the only MLB player I have attempted to collect every Topps card made for the 23 years he played for the Red Sox.

Ideally the entire cost would be covered via donations with 100% of the money going to VT softball. My ultimate goal is for every lady on the team to have the opportunity to autograph a ball and see a young fan eyes light up when he/she receives it especially if that young fan is a huge fan of the player. Plus, it would also be a great way to raise additional money for VT softball.
