Find a time in the last 30 years of VT fball where the talent was as thin

I'll wait, because IMO the answer doesn't exist.

Maybe the team is actually good and we're stacked with talent and Fu & co were just horrifically awful. However, our recruits weren't viewed as particularly talented in high school, and the production on the field has been in a steep decline. 2018 was certainly a low point but 2019-21 was a dead cat bounce as the recruited talent cycled through the program along with a couple transfer saviors that kept us somewhat afloat (Herbert, Burmeister, Williams).

Bottom line is VT hasn't had this few blue chip recruits on the roster since CFB was let go but that year we had a ton of proven production returning.

- 2020: 16
- 2019: 20
- 2018: 14
- 2017: 11
- 2016: 9
