We want to buy / build a home, but Richmond is beyond stupid->

We will stay where we are for a while. I just wanted to get it done. We made an offer up to $725K for a house in a neighborhood we really like. Listed for $675K.. We were told we weren't even CLOSE!

On top of that, people are making cash offers, and that is what the market is dictating. SO, if you sell stock to buy a house for $750-$800K (or higher), the way the market is, you are really spending upwards of $900K.

We have a very nice house in a neighborhood I love (back up to a wooded park). It is paid for, but we really wanted a first floor master and I'd like to get my wife her "dream home". Problem is, THAT may well be a nightmare!.. Think I'll just keep going to the gym so I can climb the stairs in my old age

I feel for those who HAVE to move!
