Yes, anything is possible in ice hockey particularly if the goalie is able


to stand on his head during a series. I have lost track of all the times the Caps were eliminated from the Playoffs because the opposing goalie happened to play like he was All-World even though he didn't show any signs he was capable of playing like that during the regular season.

Given the new Playoff format, which I'm not a fan of, it might be to the Caps advantage to end up in the Atlantic side of the Eastern bracket. At least it would mean avoiding Carolina, Pittsburgh, or New York until the Eastern Conference Finals. Given that some years 1 division can be a lot stronger than the other division, I guess I would have preferred to see the Playoffs remain a 1-8 seeding format.
