Previous years when they had the Coordinator of Umpires on, Christie Cornwall, she was fabulous.

Now the subject of training umpires afterwards was good. If schools want it better, they need to have umpire clinics when hosting say a fall ball tournament. This past fall, UT’s big multi team tournament was also an umpires’ clinic. Umpires being taught, educated in game between innings was incredible to see. Where to position on a certain play, mechanics, etc. I think all the umps were on radio so instant feedback. Even the home plate ump was switched out every couple innings in game. Very fascinating to see and was very cool, first time I’ve ever seen it in all my years in softball.
