Reminds me of a house we looked at in Davenport IA
6k square feet, woodwork and molding throughout that was worth 3x what the house was on the market for ($65k). Sat on a bluff with a view of the Mississippi River that was unreal. Plus the city was offering $200k from a city revitalization budget to renovate it.
Now the the reason it was $65k... neighborhood around it was a disaster. The property was on the verge of falling down the hill, another house just like it right next to it (less than 10 foot separation), most of the copper had been stripped from it, plaster walls that were trashed, etc.
What was interesting was there were 3 or 4 properties like that in Davenport, over the 10 years we lived in the area they sold and resold multiple times. There was one that resold at least 4 times during that period, had been completely restored and was on one of the most beautiful lots you could imagine. Kept selling for around $125k (1/3 per sqft of what the neighborhood was going for). Rumor was it was haunted and several families of skeptics were no longer skeptics.
