My beef is that BOTH Hooker and Burmeister are gone.

Let's face it, QB is a unique position in that either you are playing or you're are not playing. If you are the 5th DB, you might get in on nickel packages, play 20 plays on special teams, sub for any one of four tired or injured players, etc. There is none of that at the QB position.

I wish Hooker could have stayed. But when he left, he was likely behind Burmeister. So let me talk about the two for a minute. I think in terms of body of work, I liked Burmeister slightly more than Hooker. Each had their great and bad moments, but if I had to start one and ride him, I'd have taken Burmeister. So, Hooker might have seen this as well, and bolted for Tennessee. The QB carrousel is part of the business now sadly.

But what has me more upset is that BOTH of them are going to finish their careers elsewhere. Burmeister was great in his finale against UVa. The staff (Corny and/or Price) almost blew the game by rotating Blumrick into the game. Killed a drive in the red zone once, and fumbled while we were running out the clock.

I don't know the inside reasons why Burmeister left. And I'm partially mad at him for leaving. But even in the HC transition, was there an attempt to keep him? I know he announced he was transferring before the bowl game but was willing to play. Then the team or administration told him he wasn't going to play. This is before Pry was hired. I don't know who is to blame, but I think he was a nice college QB, and we had a decent amount invested in him.

BTW, I might be wrong and bad evaluator of QB talent. But I think Burmeister looked better than the two QBs that played in the Spring Game. I hope I am wrong come August, but still.

And I would feel the same if Hooker would have been the one to stay and Burmeister would have been the one to transfer to UT the year before. I just think both were quality QBs--with game experience at Tech, and both of them got away.

Side note: most of the posters at TSL didn't see Hooker as head and shoulders above Burmeister. In fact, more on here thought like I did on the issue, especially after Hooker's injury. I think what pisses people off is that Hooker went to UT and received innovative and quality offensive coaching, and he took off. Burmeister stayed behind at Tech and managed the best he could with limited talent around him and mediocre coaching.
