I was convinced that I was going to get hit with a huge tax bill this year, especially with the free money the IRS was throwing my way that I tried to tell them "no thanks" to. Let that money sit in my savings since I got it.

Then I learned of this wonderful new "Higher Education" tax credit I was getting for my daughter at school. Went from owing ~$4K to getting a bit back.

Don't know how long it will last, but at least that big hit didn't come this year.
