I watched my paternal Grandfather, and a second father to me, die slowly and quite painfully from this type of cancer. He passed on Christmas Eve 1980. I was a junior at VT. Other than my wife he was the best person I've ever known. He had been sick for a long time but they didn't identify pancreatic cancer until one week before he passed. I watched a special last night on Patrick Swayze who died from the same disease. It's a terrible and slow way to go and pretty much untreatable. Any breakthrough on this type of cancer would be a great human achievement.
