He most likely didn’t practice his draw and mag changes beforehand, and so dumb things happen like that all the time.

If you think of all of the stuff left behind, and in similar events like the Tsarnaev bombings and subsequent murders, these suspects are executing relatively unpracticed attacks and do things that ultimately provide evidence as to their actions.
