Listen to the podcast linked above. The 3rd base ump is a 'big wig', not a 'normal umpire,' it would make no difference in his 'F' received for his performance. Seems it was 'his turn', rotation, to make a point. And he did. Made the game all about him, and, or, the rule.... The conference may have had a role in this, and he may have had some other 'help'. Stay tuned.
