Hospitalization stats require some transparency as well though
during the initial surge, less than 20% of people hospitalized with covid had none or mild symptoms (which means they were there for something else, but also were infected).
During the last spike it was over 50%, meaning that the majority were there for something else.
That is extremely important if you are trying to make reasonable and rational decisions, but doesn't make for good headlines.
