I think the better argument to be made is by the umps only calling illegal


pitches on a select number of pitches that had a negative impact with respect to Florida State they created a false illusion for Tech coaches. I don't think any of her pitches were any different so the illegal pitch could have been called every time she released the ball, and some could argue should have. But by not calling illegal pitches on balls and foul balls the umps created the false illusion that it was not something he was going to call every pitch, giving Tech some hope. Had he called an illegal pitch on every throw, the coach would have no doubt removed her more quickly from the game before the game got out of control. I use to umpire in an earlier life and how the umps handled the situation was wrong and unfair; and at a minimum created the appearance of bias against Tech.
