The “leap” is going to be legal next year. It’s asinine that it’s illega


And it’s why most umps don’t call it, other than a token call now and then on the most egregious ones to earn their stripes and try to get the pitcher to be aware of it a little more.

I liken it to cops enforcing speeding in a 65 mph zone. They don’t go after folks doing 70-75, because most everyone is. They go after the guys doing 80 or more. They make an example of them. The fines are much bigger too on 80+ mph. Same deal here. For that guy to call Emma on almost every pitch, even after she clearly made it very close to the ground after the first several calls, was totally bush league. That’s the cop pulling over the same driver every day, whether he’s doing 80, 75, 70, or 66. At some point, you’re just a jerk.
