Deserving winner of Best Picture in a down year for movies imo.


I think Sound of Metal was my favorite from last year, though, so maybe I'm just wildly biased toward movies about deaf people involved in music.

For those that found CODA formulaic and sort of unchallenging (reasonable criticisms), I'd recommend trying Drive My Car (won the foreign film Oscar and was also nominated for best picture). Probably the actual best movie of the year, even if I (slightly) preferred CODA.
